Holy Week Observance

Students at Sacred Heart School did more than just listen to the Passion of Christ. Having read about the sufferings of Jesus during Religion classes, the students took on the roles of Christ, the jubilant crowds of Palm Sunday (grade K) and the condemning people of Good Friday (grades 6 & 7). These re-enactments set the tone for listening and understanding the Gospel messages of Holy Week and brought attention to the glorious resurrection of Easter Sunday.

The Sound of Music

Literally, the “sound of music” filled the Sacred Heart School, New Britain, gym as members of the CT Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Adrian Sylveen, visited the school as part of their Education Program. The performance consisted of some hands-on activities, lecture and musical selections to introduce the students to classical music and the instruments of the orchestra. This year’s presentation consisted of popular jazz pieces from famous composers and musicians. From the youngest members of our school family to the oldest, it was a captive audience! While some schools have had to cut their Fine Arts Programs, SHS students continue to enjoy their music and art classes. The holistic education offered is important and vital to our Mission to "Educate the whole child is a Gospel inspired atmosphere."

2nd Nature

2nd Nature… The 3 R’s may have been the foundation on which we all built our educational foundation but a 4th element has been added to the mix in today’s curriculum. Students work with ease as technology comes as second nature to them as they incorporate hi-tech advancement into all their subject areas at SHS.
