Life at Sacred Heart School is all about family.

Arts at SHS

Through artistic endeavors our students become active participants in continuing God’s creation.

Sacred Heart School Building in 1923
“Let it be known to all who enter here, that Christ is the reason for this school, the unseen but ever present Teacher in our classes, the model of our faculty, the inspiration of our students.”

For over 120 years, Sacred Heart School has helped students achieve educational and spiritual success through a tradition of faith, family and academic excellence.

Sacred Heart School of New Britain, Connecticut, is a Pre-K to 8th grade Catholic School in the Archdiocese of Hartford. SHS instills traditional Catholic and family values in a safe, secure, and family oriented environment. Our students are further enriched through a wide variety of extra curricular activities, differential instruction, and before and after school childcare.

Pastor Appreciation Day

“Feet apart but close at heart!” These were the sentiments as students and faculty gathered at Sacred Heart School to welcome their pastor, Monsignor Daniel Plocharczyk (Monsignor Dan) and offer greetings, well wishes and prayers in recognition of “Pastor Appreciation Day” on October 11th. Students from grades Pre K through 8 made cards and posters to express their gratitude for all Monsignor Dan does for the school in his role as pastor and shepherd. No celebration would be complete without the traditional Polish greeting song, Sto Lat, to wish Monsignor many more years of health, happiness and holiness.

Student Council Elections

Our national government and candidates running for political office could take an example from our young people running for Student Council. Student Council elections were recently held at Sacred Heart School and members of the school family came out in force to support their favorite candidates. Those running for each particular office shared applause and best wishes to each of their opponents after their speech was given. Social distancing was kind of nice as it provided a “picnic-like” atmosphere on such a beautiful day. Students returned to their classes to cast their ballots and the results were quickly sent to the office. Congratulations are in order to ALL the candidates for creative posters, a well prepared speech and an articulate presentation. Results: President: Nicholas Ebrahimi - Vice President: Veronica Dropa Secretary: Joanna Jarombek

Kindergarten Kick-off

Mrs. Mailloux and our Kindergarten students didn't waste any time getting use to their new surroundings and classroom routines. Sacred Heart is very happy to welcome the students and their parents to our school family and looks forward to a wonderful year of the children growing; physically, academically and spiritually!

First Day of School

The “outside” smiles may be the product of Photoshop but the “inside” sentiments truly reflect the joy and gratitude of everyone to be back at school with friends and teachers. As Sacred Heart School begins full time, in school studies, teachers, students and parents are prepared and ready to safely embrace the year which lies ahead. “High 5's” (at a social distance) and opening prayer for God’s blessings on this coming year were just a few signs of a great beginning. This school year marks the 125th anniversary of Sacred Heart School and its legacy of Faith, Family and Academic Excellence. With special thanks to the Parent Ambassadors for their gift of a water bottle, custom mask and gloves to each student and teacher.
