Fire safety is not a laughing matter but it was an enjoyable learning experience. Thanks to the special fire fighters of the Beaver St. Station in New Britain and Engine #1, Pre K through grade 5 students had the opportunity to learn and review some important rules and techniques that could save lives. From some “words of wisdom” from Patches, a fire safety robot with the NBFD, to a demonstration in a mobile classroom designed as a “smoke house” to simulate real emergency procedures to a tour of a real fire engine and explanation of its equipment, the students came away with a special lesson to be learned and had some fun in the process.
