Students of Sacred Heart School in New Britain concluded their Thanksgiving activities with a Prayer Service on Wednesday morning. Gathering for prayer, petition and thanksgiving, the students were especially happy to have a Bishop from Africa take part in their Thanksgiving Service. Bishop Michael Bibi of Cameroon, Africa joined the school family while on a home visit with his own family (nephew Emmanuel James, Pre K4). Besides the collection of canned goods for a local food pantry, the Student Council presented Bishop Bibi with a generous check from their recent “Dress Down to Raise the Roof” activity. The school family wanted to provide some financial assistance in putting on a new roof in the recently constructed church in Cameroon.
Earlier in the week, students in Grades 1 & 2, under the direction of music teacher William Hively, presented a Thanksgiving Program to put everyone in a festive mood. Student Council Officers also organized an old favorite, “Harvest Hoopla”, with games and prizes to round out the holiday celebration.
Our Sacred Heart School Family extends a blessed and happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
