Operation Christmas Child is the world’s largest Christmas project of its kind, Operation Christmas Child, uses gift-filled shoeboxes to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to children in need around the world. It is a positive and fun way to share the Good News and love of Jesus Christ. Since 1993, Operation Christmas Child has delivered gift-filled shoeboxes to over 168 million children in more than 100 countries.
Students at Sacred Heart School, in New Britain, took advantage of this special project to show their own love, concern and generosity and donated a variety of items to include in each Christmas gift box. The middle school students worked diligently to separate the many items into appropriate gifts (older boys or girls, younger girls and boys) and then paired up with the younger students to fill each plastic box. Along with each gift box, the students made a Christmas card and wrote a special message to the recipient, wishing them the love of the Christ child and a merry and blessed Christmas.
The old saying, “It is better to give than receive” was truly evident on the faces of our own students as they worked together to bring joy and love into the hearts of those who would receive this special Christmas cheer!
Special thanks to Mrs. Smith for coordinating this wonderful gift of Christmas spirit and love!
