As our school family celebrated Catholic Schools Week, we were honored to welcome the leadership of New Britain, Mayor Erin Stewart. She spoke of the many facets of her job and the need to work hard in school. She congratulated the students on their hard work and academic achievements and praised the faculty for their untiring efforts to make SHS so special. A variety of art work, “BEES”, was on display in recognition of the symbolic place they play in New Britain’s history. A poster of the recently completed “Bee Bridge” also adorned the gym entrance to welcome the mayor.
The students had many interesting and thought-provoking questions and listened intently to the answers.
The visit concluded with a live Facebook broadcast, lots of smiles and laughs and a “thank you” basket of chocolates to express appreciation for Mayor Stewart giving of her time and showing such an interest in Sacred Heart School.
